I saw these at Don Quijote in Pearl City at the checkout line and HAD to try them! I mean, if I love Cheetos and love Ranch, I’d love these right??
As soon as I opened the bag, I got a big whiff of what smelled exactly like cool ranch Doritos! Yum! It was interesting in that they were in star-shaped puffs, and the “ranch” powder seemed to look like red, white and blue specks.
Cute right? Even though it didn’t say it was a 4th of July limited edition, it definitely seemed like that was the theme.
I popped one in my mouth and was immediately surprised at how light the puffs were. For some reason I was expecting it to be a bit heavier. The ranch seasoning was definitely on point, and in fact, it tasted JUST LIKE those 3D Cool Ranch Dorito snacks that came out (but later discontinued) in the 90’s or early 00’s. Don’t know what that is? Well, the taste is basically a lighter ranch Dorito flavor on light and airy star puffs.
And some people will argue the best part of Cheetos products is the orange-red residue left on your fingers to shamelessly lick and savor the cheesiness. Does this new flavored snack produce the same satisfaction? Not quite. While there was powdered residue left on my fingers, it was only a light coating and was more crumbly than powdery.
So would I recommend these? Yes! Although it can’t really compare to Cheetos, it’s a good change and still makes for a satisfying snack :).
RATING: 8.5/10
